Every damaged shipment has a root cause, and more often than not it is the packaging. Choosing the right material is not about spending more — it is about matching the material to the load, the journey and the handling it will face.

Start with the box itself. For heavy industrial parts, a single-wall corrugated box is rarely enough. Look at double-wall or triple-wall corrugated board with a high burst strength and edge crush test (ECT) rating. The small price difference per box is nothing compared to one returned consignment.

Next, think about unitising. Stretch film is ideal for pallet loads that need to breathe, while shrink film gives a tighter, tamper-evident wrap for smaller cartons. For heavy or irregular loads, PP or steel strapping keeps everything locked to the pallet through forklifts, potholes and long hauls.

Do not forget void fill. Bubble wrap, foam and kraft paper stop movement inside the box — movement is what actually breaks products. A well-packed carton should pass the simple drop-and-shake test before it ever leaves your floor.

Finally, buy smart. Standardising on two or three box sizes and one film specification lets you buy in bulk at the best rates. As a one-stop supplier, we help customers consolidate their entire packaging list into a single monthly order — one delivery, one invoice, no stockouts.
