Ask any plant manager what their worst day looks like and it usually involves a safety incident. Beyond the human cost, injuries mean stoppages, investigations and compliance headaches. A disciplined PPE programme is the cheapest insurance your facility will ever buy.
Head protection comes first. Industrial safety helmets with proper ISI certification should be standard for anyone on the floor, with colour coding to distinguish visitors, supervisors and contractors at a glance.
Hands are the most injured body part in industry. Stock a range: cut-resistant gloves for fabrication, chemical-resistant gloves for handling solvents and lubricants, and general-purpose leather or cotton gloves for material handling. One glove type never fits all tasks.
Footwear and visibility matter just as much. Steel-toe safety shoes with anti-skid soles prevent both crush injuries and slips, while high-visibility reflective jackets are non-negotiable near forklifts, docks and low-light areas.
Round out the basics with eye protection (safety goggles and face shields for grinding or chemical splash zones), ear plugs or muffs for high-noise areas, and fall protection harnesses wherever work happens at height.
The practical tip: treat PPE like a consumable with a minimum stock level, not an annual purchase. We work with facilities to set up monthly replenishment so no worker ever waits for a replacement helmet or glove pair.
